Edward Simms Huff, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and, friend, departed this life on October 10, 2024, at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center. He was born on December 22, 1952, in Statesboro, Bulloch County, Georgia, where he had the distinct pleasure sharing his life with family and friends..
A proud graduate of the William James High School class of 1971, Edward's journey through life was marked by hard work and dedication. He was a committed truck driver, concluding his professional endeavors with the Pacific Gateway Transportation Company. His work was not merely a means to an end; it was a testament to his industrious spirit and determination to provide for his loved ones.
Edward's passions extended beyond the road. He was an avid fan of the Atlanta Falcons and the Georgia Bulldogs, standing by their sides through victories and defeats alike, celebrating the joys of sports with an enthusiasm that was contagious. In his leisure moments, he found solace in the tranquility of fishing, where he reveled in the peacefulness of nature and the simple joys it brought him.
He leaves behind a loving family, including his cherished wife of fifty years, Nara Everett Huff, who was his steadfast companion through every season of life. His legacy continues with their two daughters, Tracy Huff and Gwendolyn Huff, both of Statesboro, GA, as well as a beloved bonus daughter, Charlette (Christopher) Sheppard of Sylvania, GA. Edward's familial bond was further strengthened by three adoring sisters: Mary Linda (Oliver) Nunnally, Nina Bell Jordan, and Wilmatine Moore, all of Statesboro, and three devoted brothers: Lehman (Juanita) Huff and Randolph (Lillian) Huff, both residing in Statesboro, and Levern Huff of Queens, New York. He was preceded in death by 5 other brothers, Dedrick Huff, Claude Huff, Alfonso Huff, Dimmen Huff, and James Huff.
The joy of his life was reflected in the laughter and love of six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, who will carry forward his spirit and memories. A host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, and friends will remember Edward for his kindness, humor, and unwavering support.
The memory of Edward Simms Huff will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him, a testament to a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and an enduring legacy of devotion.
A Celebration of Life for Mr. Huff will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 12:000 noon at the New Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church with the pastor Reverend Germaine Williams, eulogist. Interment will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held on Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at the church. There will be no visitation on Friday.
