Deacon Jackie Clark, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, passed away September 5, 2024, at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro, Georgia, after a brief illness. He was born on January 28, 1940, and lived a life dedicated to his family, faith, and community.
A lifelong resident of Bulloch County, Deacon Clark was educated in the local public schools of Bulloch County and proudly graduated from the William James High School class of 1959. His commitment to service extended beyond the classroom; he was a devoted member of Little Bethel Missionary Baptist Church where he tirelessly served on the board of ushers and held the esteemed position of chairman of the board of deacons. His faith was a guiding force throughout his life, and he instilled those values in all who knew him.
Professionally, Deacon Clark made significant contributions during his thirty-four years with the Georgia Department of Labor, where his hard work and dedication left a lasting impact.
He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of sixty-four years, Willie Pearl Clark. Together they raised their two sons, Jerry (JoAnn) Clark of Riverdale, GA and Jeffrey (Violet) Clark of Decatur, GA. A poignant aspect of his legacy is his grandson, De Andre (Jasmine) Clark of Dallas, TX, who was reared as his own and Ivey (Dinah) Suber, III, Covington, GA.
In addition to his immediate family, Deacon Clark is also survived by his children, Diane Roberson and Randy Allen. His siblings include sisters Betty Jones, Ruby Dean Jones, and Carolyn (Calvin) Mainer, all of Savannah, GA, as well as Elease Simmons and Delinda (Reverend John) Gaskins, both of Statesboro, GA. His brothers, James Roy Wilson, Jr., Ricky (Gail) Wilson, and Carnell (Cynthia) Wilson, also of Statesboro, cherish his memory.
The family extends their love through sisters-in-law Janie Smith of Brooklet, GA, Mary Martin of Miami, FL, Joyce Shaheed of Atlanta, and Dorothy Williams of Savannah, GA, as well as brother-in-law Charles "Brother" Hendrix of Statesboro, GA.
Deacon Jackie Clark leaves behind not only his grandchildren and great-grandchildren but also a vast network of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will forever remember his kindness, wisdom, and the light he brought into their lives.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Little Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Brooklet, Georgia with the Reverend John T. McPhatter, Pastor/Eulogist and Elder Cazzie Russell, Presiding. Interment will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens. Deacon will lie in state at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour. There will be no viewing after the eulogy.
Public viewing will be held on Friday,, September 13, 2024 from 12 noon until 6:00 p.m., and the family will receive visitors from 5:00-6:00 p.m. both at the funeral home.
