Carolyn Ann Brogenton

Carolyn Ann Brogenton, age 73, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at The Oaks of Bethany, Vidalia, Georgia after an extended illness.  She was a native of Bulloch County and the daughter of the late Henry, Sr. and  Valarie Lee Brogenton. 

At an early age, she was baptized and became a member of the Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully until she migrated to Atlanta, GA. After returning to Statesboro she reunited with Taberbernale and became a member of the choir. Carolyn was gifted with a beautiful voice and she loved to sing, one of her favorite songs being, "Behold the Lamb".

She attended the public schools of Bulloch County and was a 1969 graduate of William James High School. She furthered her education at Swainsboro Technical School (now college), where she received a diploma in nursing and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. While living in Atlanta she furthered her education in nursing finally becoming a Registered Nurse. 

She was formerly employed by the Louie D. Center of Georgia, Georgia Baptist Hospital, Brookwood Nursing Center, and Kaiser Permanente Center all of Atlanta and finally retired from Kaiser Permanente after 10 years of service. She loved nursing and devoted her life to caring for others.

She is survived by two sons, Drwan-Rashad Smith of Atlanta, GA; Delwin 'Kharique Smith, of Ithaca, NY; a devoted great-niece and caregiver Tedatha Roberson and special niece Zenobia (Binky) her riding partner, both of Statesboro, GA and a special friend, Sherrell Lovett, Statesboro, GA She also leaves 2 nieces, 11 great nieces and 1 great nephew, a host of  great-great nieces and nephews  other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life for Ms. Brogenton will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church with the pastor, Reverend Daniel C. Woodson, eulogist and the Reverend Charles Weaver, presiding.  Interment will be in Lee's Cemetery.

The walk through viewing will be held on Friday, January the 24th from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
